Don Lawrence Trophy - Woodlands Golf Club
28 Members and guests played in the Don Lawrence Trophy 2010. Results were:
Don Lawrence Trophy: Cliff George and Peter Gompertz 49 points
Runners Up: Jean Gilbert and Daryl Cox 47 points
Nearest the Pin: 11th - Virginia Gorrell, 17th Max Finlay
Straightest Drive: Jenny Sebire
Following play a barbecue was enjoyed in the refurbished Woodlands clubhouse.

Dinner - Woodlands Golf Club - Speaker: David Greenhill
Approximately 90 members and guests enjoyed the dinner at Woodlands and the opportunity to inspect the recently extended and refurbished Clubhouse.
The after-dinner speaker was David Greenhill, the Executive Director of the Victorian Golf Association. David provided an interesting over-view of the new handicapping and course rating system.

Al Howard Hickory Challenge - match against Australian Golf Heritage Society
The Al Howard Hickory Challenge was played on 22nd April at Federal Golf Club.
Each team had several good wins with the GSA team victorious 16 to 14. Full details will appear in a forthcoming issue of The Long Game.

Hickory Day - Kingston Heath Golf Club
The annual Hickory Day was held on Sunday 11 April at Kingston Heath, in very windy conditions. Ten men played for the Frank Shepherd Trophy and five women for the Burtta Cheney Trophy.
Winners were:
  • Frank Shepherd Trophy - Max Findlay
  • Burtta Cheney Trophy - Bev Waite
  • Nearest the Pin - Bill Wilson, Paula Gompertz
  • Long drive - Brian Simpson, Bev Waite

Display at Women's Australian Open - Commonwealth Golf Club
The Society again mounted a display at the Women's Australian Open Golf Championship.
Selected items from the Golf Australia collection were on display as well as some not previously seen at these events. Of particular interest were:
  • women's golf trophies and memorabilia from the collection of Leon Rowbell, and
  • hickory golf clubs and bags from the collection of Max Findlay.
Amongst visitors to the tent, were Miss Burtta Cheney MBE, Life Member of the Golf Society of Australia, and Mrs Patricia Bridges OBE, Life Member of Women's Golf Australia.
