A good group of hickory enthusiasts enjoyed the wonderful fairways and greens of Sandy Golf Links at Cheltenham, Victoria.
The renovated and popular Public facility hosted the Annual 9-hole event. Afternoon golf in Spring weather was enjoyed, as players competed for the Frank Shepherd and Burtta Cheney trophies.
With one Stableford point separating the top three men, Mango Maguire on 18 points won the Frank Shepherd trophy with Andrew Thomson Runner up (17 points) and Tony Blakeley third (16 pts).
Due to insufficient entries the Burtta Cheney trophy was not played for.
A benefit of visiting the Sandy Golf Links, at the presentations players were able to enjoy their after-golf drinks and snacks in the Thomson Room, situated in the Australian Golf Centre. This much utilized room houses the Golf Australia /GSA Library and display cabinets.
President Graeme Ryan attended the presentations and spoke to the group.
The Golf Society thanks Sandy Golf Links for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
